MindE Gristleizer
MindE Gristleizer is not a neutral tremolo effect and not an exact component-for-component emulation of a historical device. The plugin uses the basic idea of a rhythmically controlled signal decay as a starting point for a standalone modern effect architecture.
The focus is on three modes of operation:
- rhythmic amplitude movement for gates, chops, pulses, and ring mod-like textures
- resonant filter movement for speaking, hollow, and metallic timbres
- controlled destruction through drive, bias, feedback, and dynamic modulation
Thus, the effect is suitable for both quick production tasks and deep sound design. A drum loop can be transformed into a mechanical sequence with just a few knobs. A pad receives slow stereo movement. A bass is rhythmically torn apart through the serial VCA/VCF path. Vocals and field recordings can transition into resonant, unstable textures.

Sound Concept
At the heart of the Gristleizer is a free-running LFO that can control not only volume but also filter movement and routing behavior. The modulation runs internally in the 4x oversampling domain. This allows drive, asymmetrical saturation, and fast modulation to respond cleaner, while hard settings retain their character.
Depth determines the strength of the movement. Bias shifts the operating point and changes both the modulation balance and the asymmetry of the saturation. Gain drives the input signal into the nonlinear stage. Level compensates the output level.
The combination is deliberately interactive. More gain not only produces more distortion but also changes how clearly VCA, VCF, and feedback respond to the input signal. Bias can turn a hard gate into an uneven pulse movement or shift the resonance range of the filter. Depth ranges from subtle movement to complete rhythmic disassembly.
