MindE Vokkalizer
Vokkalizer is a modern vocal FX processor for AI-generated, synthetic, and heavily processed voices. The plugin was designed to reduce typical "plastic" artifacts of artificial vocals, musically shape the vocal character, and give vocals more body, movement, and analog density.
At the core are independent formant and pitch processing, rubber-band-based vocal transformation, a dynamic resonance suppressor, and an oversampled analog saturation stage. Vokkalizer is suitable for subtle humanization, creative voice designs, lo-fi effects, modern pop vocals, electronic productions, and experimental vocal transformations.
WARNING: The plugin really requires power and incurs latency. Therefore, tracks should be rendered after setting the plugin, and the plugin should be turned off or removed!
Main Features
Independent Formant Shifting
Vokkalizer can change the perceived size, body, and character of a voice without necessarily shifting the musical pitch. This allows AI vocals to be shaped more naturally, deeper, brighter, more intimate, or more artificial.
Independent Pitch
The pitch control shifts the pitch independently of the formant control. This allows for subtle corrections, creative voice shifts, and stronger character effects without pitch and vocal body being inextricably linked.
Rubber Band Processing
The integrated rubber band engine operates in real-time mode and handles pitch, formant, and time-ratio processing. The rubber band dry/wet control mixes the processed signal path with the original signal and uses latency compensation for the dry path.
Auto-Morphing Formant Modulation
Mod Rate and Mod Depth control a continuous formant movement. This allows vocals to breathe more subtly, appear less static, or transition into distinctly audible morphing textures. Mod Rate determines the speed, Mod Depth the strength of the movement.
Time Warp
Time Warp creates small temporal fluctuations and micro-smear in the signal. The effect helps to break up rigid AI phrasing and can lead to granular, slightly unstable vocal textures at higher values.
Dynamic Resonance Suppressor
Reso Suppress reduces narrow spectral peaks before saturation. This is particularly helpful for AI voices that sound glassy, nasal, metallic, or unpleasantly focused in certain frequency ranges. The FFT-based process is only activated when the control is above zero.
Oversampled Analog Saturation
Drive adds a soft, analog-inspired saturation to the signal. The saturation works with 4x oversampling and soft clipping to make vocals denser, warmer, and more present without immediately sounding harsh or digital.
Output Control
The output control manages the final level from -24 dB to +12 dB. This allows the processing to be balanced directly within the plugin.
Randomize
The randomize button generates subtle variations across multiple sound parameters. It serves as a quick humanize impulse to easily vary formant, pitch, drive, modulation, time warp, and resonance suppression.
Realtime Waveform Display
The integrated visualization shows a running waveform and visually responds to drive and formant. This keeps the processing visually comprehensible without overloading the interface.
Interface
Vokkalizer uses a dark, modern neon design with clear cyan and lime accents. The operation is designed for fast work in the DAW:
- compact, scalable plugin window
- preset selection in the header
- direct A/B comparison function
- undo and redo
- randomize as a creative starting point
- real-time waveform on the left
- 3x3 control matrix for all main parameters
- tooltips for all important controls
The interface is intentionally kept minimal: all sound-critical parameters are directly accessible without menu depth or technical distraction.
